- 1 Nonstick Frying Pan
- 1 Pot
- 1 Sieve
- 1 Food Processor
Ingredients
Lentils
- 2/3 cup Black Lentils
- 4 cups Water (for soaking the lentils)
Onions
- 4 Onions (medium size)
- 3 tbsp Olive Oil
Lentil Spread
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 tsp Salt (adjust to taste or health requirements)
- 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 2 tsp Sweet Paprika
- 2 tsp Granulated Garlic (spice)
- 1/2 cup Walnuts

Prepare The Lentils
- In an uncovered pot, soak the lentils for 4 hours.
- Drain the lentils in a sieve and rinse with fresh water.
- Return the lentils to the pot and cover with cold water.
- Bring to a boil, lower the flame and simmer until tender (for about 20 minutes).
- Drain well in a sieve. Set aside.
Sauté The Onions
- Slice the onions thinly.
- Sauté the onions in a non-stick frying pan with 3 tablespoons of olive oil until golden brown. Stir from time to time.
Lentil & Onion Mixture
- Add the lentils to the sautéed onions and sauté for another minute while stirring.
- Add the spices and continue to sauté for another minute while stirring.
- Cool the mixture.
Prepare The Spread
- Place the cooled lentil & onion mixture, walnuts and 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a food processor.
- Blend until you create a creamy texture.
Notes
Serve cold.
