Glazed Wholegrain Sesame Cake Recipe
This Glazed Wholegrain Sesame Cake Recipe pairs a sesame-based cake with a homemade Tahini Cocoa Glaze. The sesame gifts this cake with a twofold donation – sesame flour and tahini paste. Glazed Wholegrain Sesame Cake
Equipment
- Coffee-Spice Grinder (for grinding 1/4 cup of sesame seeds)
- Electric Mixer
- Round Baking Pan Or Round Bunt Pan (9 inches – 23 centimeters circumference)
Ingredients
Sesame Cake
- 3 Eggs
- 3/4 cup Raw Tahini
- 1/2 cup Honey
- 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup Applesauce (without sugar or preservatives)
- 1 cup Wholegrain Spelt Flour (sifted)
- 1/2 cup Oat Flour
- 1/2 cup Sesame Seed Flour (grind 1/4 cup of sesame seeds in coffee/spice grinder)
- 2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/8 tsp Salt
Tahini Cocoa Glaze (the link to the recipe is at the bottom of the post, for this cake, use the quantities as listed below)
- 6 tbsp Raw Tahini
- 6 tbsp Water
- 3/4 cup Honey
- 6 tbsp Cocoa Powder
Instructions
Prepare The Tahini Cocoa Glaze
- Use the link at the bottom of the post to get to the recipe. For this this cake, you'll need a recipe and a half. Use the quantities on the ingredient list above.
- Set aside.
Prepare The Sesame Cake
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
- Whisk the eggs and raw tahini in an electric mixer until well blended.
- Add the honey and vanilla and continue to whisk for another minute.
- Add the applesauce and blend well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients and whisk until well blended.
- Pour the batter into the baking pan.
- Swirl ¼ cup of the pre-prepared glaze into the batter. The rest will be used for the cake's glaze topping.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until golden.
- Let cool well before removing from the pan.
- Coat the cake with the pre-prepared Tahini Cocoa Glaze.
