This upcoming Hanukkah, you can enjoy a diverse selection of vegetarian latkes using Kosher Cerate’s tried-and-tested recipes. With a bit of creativity and a lot of sampling, we manage to preserve the heart of these recipes while transforming them into healthy treats.

What is a Latke?
A latke is a type of pancake or pattie, often made with potatoes, that is a staple in the Jewish cuisine. In Hebrew it is referred to as a leviva. Whatever you choose to call it, you’re bound to fall in love with its homey appeal and yummy taste.
Why eat Latkes on Hanukkah?
To celebrate the Miricale of Hanukkah. Spoiler? It has to do with a small pitcher of oil that amazingly lasted for 8 days. Click for more about the miracle of Hanukkah.
Latkes are traditionally fried in deep oil and resemble fritters. In our latke recipes, we still feature oil, preferably beneficial olive oil. However, we offer a healthier alternative to deep frying while preserving the signature flavor. Baking instead of deep-frying is not only healthier, but much easier.
Are latkes healthy?
That would depend on the latke – the ingredients you use, the type of oil you choose and your cooking method. Luckily, as long as you take care, you can enjoy this yummy treat on Hannukah and all year round. To give you options, we include a variety of latkes that you can serve alongside the traditional potato.
Tip: Look for the labels beneath the recipe title. They provide helpful info and specify if the latke is gluten free, dairy free and/or parve.
